Mud Dauber Wasps
Mud dauber wasps get their name from using mud to build their nests. These wasps are generally no more than 1 inch long and the majority of their color is black. They are easily distinguished by their very thin body between their thorax and abdomen. Mud dauber wasps feed on plants and nectar. Mud dauber wasps are not likely to sting but if agitated they surely will. Their nests are often resemble organ pipes or “sacs”.
