Earwigs get their name from a long outstanding myth that these bugs like to crawl into people’s ears while they are asleep. Instead earwigs like to live in moist, cool areas and can be serious garden pests. Earwigs are nocturnal and are attracted to light so spotting them during the day isn’t typical. If you are to spot one you can easily identify it with its large pincers on the end of its abdomen. They look intimidating but they aren’t poisonous and don’t carry diseases.
